Round Led by Deus X Capital and Fourth Revolution Capital
Los Angeles, USA – 1 February, 2024 – Saltwater Games, the global game studio and technology ecosystem, announced it has closed on a $5.5 million seed funding round that will fuel the next phase of the company’s growth as it cements its position as a leader in Web3, Immersive and AI gaming.
The funding round, which focused on securing strategic investment partners with subject matter expertise in digital assets, was led by Deus X Capital, the $1bn family office backed investment and operating company and Fourth Revolution Capital (4RC), crypto-native investment firm headquartered in Los Angeles. As part of the deal, Tim Grant, CEO, Deus X will become Chairman at Saltwater Games, while Keegan Selby, Co-Founder, 4RC will join the Board.
Saltwater Games will deploy the capital to increase headcount, invest in new technology and expand operations into new territories, realizing its vision to bring together emerging technology, creativity and innovation to deliver captivating gaming experiences with limitless possibilities. In addition, Saltwater Games aims to diversify its offering and has plans to develop its tokenization capabilities.
The announcement follows a series of acquisitions by Saltwater Games, in which the company acquired Maze Theory (VR/XR), Nexus Labs (Web3 / Community Gaming) and Quantum Interactive (Emerging Technology Innovation). The acquisitions will bring onboard over 50 skilled developers and add high profile games, such as Resurgence, Doctor Who, Peaky Blinders, to Saltwater Games’ existing portfolio, including its flagship racing title Celeros. The three studios will be merged into a new multi-studio group.
